Security jobs in secret: Oak Ridge team evaluated radioactive materials in Iraq

OAK RIDGE - In June 2004, after a year of training and secret preparations, a 20-member Oak Ridge team headed to Iraq as part of Project Maximus.

Even though the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq had uncovered no weapons of mass destruction, a nationwide search had collected tons of material associated with Saddam Hussein's uranium-enrichment program and identified hundreds of radioactive sources that needed to be analyzed and put out of harm's way.
